The late Thomas Connolly, long among the leadership of the International Al Jolson Society, wrote an op-ed in 1999 triggered by a review of "Jolson - The Musical" which suggested that Jolson was disparaging to blacks. He covered many of the same points as other articles, with his own style and point of view, adding additional material to the discussion.
